How did the funding or non-monetary support you received from the Foundation impact your organization and/or the community?

Moses Taylor Foundation’s funding and support was crucial in establishing this unique initiative, helping to bridge the gap between the school district, community, and essential services for families in need. The Family Development Specialist (FDS) has connected families to various resources, such as Cash Assistance, Medicaid, Food Stamps, and Medical Assistance, as well as school-based and community-based behavioral health services, thereby creating a more supportive environment for students and families alike. This partnership has had a significant impact on the community, with the FDS providing comprehensive support to over 52 families and students through case management services, as well as assisting 35 students with short-term needs. The FDS has also brought first of its kind programs to the district such as the Necessities Nook, an area in the school where students can access essentials like hygiene items and food, anonymously and at no cost. As the school year progresses, the FDS’s reach is expected to grow, further demonstrating the importance of the Foundation’s support in fostering a lasting impact on the Panther Valley School District community.

Share a quote or anecdotal story from a client or employee of your organization that illustrates the impact of your work.

“Having the Necessities Nook has been really helpful. I can get things that I can cook easily at home and can get other things that my dad can’t afford,” Kacie, 12th grade
