Grantee submission by: Enid Logan, Executive Director

How did the funding or non-monetary support you received from the Foundation impact your organization and/or the community?

Family Promise of the Poconos, Inc. is in the midst of renovating a building in Milford to provide emergency shelter for at-risk children and families. Currently no such facility exists in Pike County. Family Promise provided emergency shelter to 36 households in 2022 and expects to be able to shelter four households at a time. Case managers will work with families to gain employment, job training, and quickly move families to independent housing. Case managers will continue to work with families for up to 12 months to ensure housing stability. Because of the additional case management support, 93% of our families remain in housing one year post shelter.

Share a quote or anecdotal story from a client or employee of your organization that illustrates the impact of your work.

“We’re so grateful for the support of our emergency shelter program in Pike County…we will complete renovations and welcome families in by Summer 2023.”

What do you most want the community to know about your work and/or what excites you most about the future of your organization?

We’re thrilled to be able to provide a landing spot for homeless children and their families and quickly move them from shelter to independent, stable housing.
