Grantee submission by: Erica Brown, Chief Development Officer
How did the funding or non-monetary support you received from the Foundation impact your organization and/or the community?
Funding provided by the Moses Taylor Foundation was utilized to renovate a new 8,000 square foot location for our Honesdale Women’s Health office. The previous location had many challenges; the building out lived its life expectancy and our practice had exceeded the building capacity causing patient access issues both from a lack of available appointments to the physical building access. The project was the first step in the long-term strategy for women’s health offices. Expansion of medical staff is underway as the next phase, recruitment continues. The third phase has several layers focusing on expanding and enhancing services: adding a licensed certified social worker to the office later in 2023 (the LCSW will focus on social determinants of health, domestic violence, and coordinating services with community resources), enhancing NST (non-stress test) capabilities in satellite offices, and growing our ultrasound capabilities. In 2022, WMCHC provided 14,371 women’s health visits and delivered approximately 460 babies.
Share a quote or anecdotal story from a client or employee of your organization that illustrates the impact of your work.
I asked this question of Christina MacDowell, CNM and Practice manager. Two quotes instantly came to mind that she has heard over and over since the new office opened in the fall of 2022:
• “Finally having a building that matches the high-quality care provided.”
• “Hidden gem and should be the model for all of women’s health care.”
What do you most want the community to know about your work and/or what excites you most about the future of your organization?
