Grantee submission by: Michelle McGloin, Director of Grant Strategies
How did the funding or non-monetary support you received from the Foundation impact your organization and/or the community?
The support we received from the Moses Taylor Foundation grant provided us the opportunity to establish state of the art labs that included numerous pieces of equipment and training aids affording students with exceptional hands-on and career-focused training. Having these resources will benefit our community by resulting in better trained and highly skilled healthcare professionals.
Share a quote or anecdotal story from a client or employee of your organization that illustrates the impact of your work.
The Preceptor of a recent graduate personally reached out to the Lackawanna Program Director to let them know how fabulous the student did during her externship with them stating, “she even outperformed many of our new hires.” She wanted Lackawanna College to know they offered her a job and asked to please keep their site in mind for future placements. A few weeks after, she called again to say how wonderful the student was and then asked if I would consider partnering with them because they were so impressed by the student’s level of training and knowledge.
What do you most want the community to know about your work and/or what excites you most about the future of your organization?
Lackawanna College staff are very proud to be a part of such an innovative and forward-thinking organization. Lackawanna College works hard to provide the highest quality education in high demand professions while remaining affordable. The Medical Assisting program is just one of those programs that offers students the opportunity to improve their life in a rewarding and life sustaining occupation while helping to improve the lives of those in the community.
